Turquoise is also the name of one of the best coastlines in the world that stretches all the way from the Aegean Sea to the Mediterranean Sea.\u00a0The Turquoise coast<\/a><\/strong>, also known as the Turkish Riviera, has over a thousand kilometers of shoreline and is home to the best beaches in Turkey, and possibly in Europe. Kaputa\u015f Beach is the most iconic image of the Turquoise Coast and a must-visit in Ka\u015f<\/a><\/strong>.\u00a0Located on an extremely narrow road towered by steep cliffs,\u00a0this\u00a0small beach\u00a0is considered by many as\u00a0the<\/em> best beach in Turkey<\/strong>. Since the beach is public and protected, there are no resorts or restaurants on the Kaputa\u015f Beach. There is only one government bar that offers drinks and fast food at popular prices. You can also rent hammocks and parasols (10 TRY per person).<\/p>\n

In order to\u00a0access the beach,\u00a0you will have to walk down over 150\u00a0steep steps. While this sounds like no fun, it also means that the\u00a0views that you will get from the top are\u00a0something out of this world; mountains, islands, crystal clear\u00a0water…<\/p>\n

No wonder why Kaputa\u015f Beach is considered the best beach in Turkey!<\/p><\/div>\n

Getting there<\/strong>:\u00a0To go to Ka\u015f you can fly to Dalaman or Antalya, but both airports are far away. Dalaman is a little bit closer (two hours by car) so I recommend flying to its new and modern airport.<\/p>\n

To get to\u00a0Kaputa\u015f from Ka\u015f, you can get a dolmu\u015f (minibus) in the otogar. The trip should take around 20 minutes.\u00a0Note that to return from Kaputa\u015f to Ka\u015f, the last minibuses pass at 18:35, 19:40 and 22:10.<\/p>\n

Getting there:<\/strong>\u00a0The easiest way to reach\u00a0Kabak\u00a0is flying to Dalaman airport from\u00a0Istanbul. In\u00a0Dalaman, you can\u00a0take the shuttle bus that connects its small airport to Fethiye. Once there, you can take the dolmu\u015f<\/em> (minibus) from Fethiye to\u00a0Kabak. The bus will pass through\u00a0\u00d6l\u00fcdeniz<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Faralya (Butterfly Valley).<\/p>\n

The small town and its waters are\u00a0s<\/span>o gorgeous that Ancient Greeks believed it was created personally by Zeus.\u00a0In the meeting point of the Aegean and the Mediterranean,\u00a0Dat\u00e7a is for sure one of the best beaches in Turkey. If you visit\u00a0Dat\u00e7a, don’t miss the ancient ruins of Knidos for an incredible mixture of history, sea, and nature.<\/p>\n

Getting there<\/strong>:\u00a0Dat\u00e7a is located\u00a0between Bodrum to the north, and Marmaris to the south. The bad road access and its distance from airports have left\u00a0Dat\u00e7a relatively unspoiled. The easiest ways to reach Dat\u00e7a are by bus from Marmaris Otogar (approx. 1 hour 15 mins) or by ferry from Bodrum (2,5 hours).<\/p>\n

According to the legend, Cleopatra did not like the sand that was on the beach and special sands were brought for her from Egypt. Whether this is true or fiction, the fine white sand on this Turkish beach is truly unique and one of the reasons to visit Turkey<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Olympos <\/strong>was an important Lycian city in the 2nd century BC. Today it is famed for its accommodation in treehouses and for being the beach destination of choice for backpackers. Flanked by two huge mountains, the whole area around is dramatically beautiful, while the village behind offers plenty of pensions and restaurants with a hippyish atmosphere.<\/p>\n

Olympos preserves\u00a0the remains of ancient\u00a0Greek\u00a0ruins, combining history, nature and amazing Turkish beaches.<\/p>\n

\u00c7irali, Olympos beach is at walking distance from the Ancient Ruins of Olympos.<\/p><\/div>\n

If\u00a0you go to Olympos, you should not miss the Eternal Flames of the\u00a0Chimera\u00a0(Yanarta\u015f). This is a magical place where it is believed\u00a0that Olympic athletes came to light their\u00a0torches. Myth or not,\u00a0the flames are quite interesting when\u00a0you consider that\u00a0they have\u00a0been burning for thousands of years.<\/p>\n

Some guesthouses in Olympos provide\u00a0transportation\u00a0to Mount Olympos at night. Once there, you still need to face a\u00a045-minute hike up to the Eternal Flames of the Chimera. Beware; it is dark and slippery, do not forget a\u00a0flashlight and be careful!<\/p>\n

Getting there:\u00a0<\/strong>Olympos is about 50-60 km from Antalya. There are direct minibuses from Antalya’s otogar. From Olympos bus stop, you will need to catch a dolmu\u015f to Olympos village (around 10 km down a dirt road).<\/p>\n

Bodrum means “basement”<\/em>\u00a0in Turkish. Honestly, not the name you would expect for this fancy coastal town that is the top summer destination for the Turkish upper class.<\/p>\n

The elegant town of Bodrum is completely white. But there are two more colors that make this city exceptionally beautiful – pink and turquoise. The soft pink color comes from its bougainvillea flowers that decorate every street and its turquoise color comes from the fantastic sea. With packed boutique hotels, trendy restaurants, nightclubs and some of the best beaches in Turkey, Bodrum has something for everybody!<\/p>\n

Pronounced like \u201ccash\u201c, the town of Ka\u015f<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>is\u00a0an ideal base to explore some of the best beaches in Turkey. The town itself does not really have the best beaches but you can easily access Kaputa\u015f Beach or get on a\u00a0water taxi to go to Liman A\u011fz\u0131, a string of 4 beaches about 3kms away from Ka\u015f.<\/p>\n

Getting there: <\/strong>Take one of the taxi boats in the port of Ka\u015f to go to the beaches of Liman A\u011fz\u0131. Limana\u011fz\u0131 has four beaches: Nuri Beach, Bilal Beach, La Moda Beach and Delos Beach. Taxi boats from Ka\u015f operate from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and the round-trip ticket costs 20TRY.<\/p>\n

I already talked\u00a0about \u00d6l\u00fcdeniz and its amazing Blue Lagoon Beach in my post about paragliding in \u00d6l\u00fcdeniz<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0but I will\u00a0say it again: this place\u00a0is stunning! Without any doubt, one of the best beaches in Turkey. The only problem is that, as with most beautiful places, everybody wants to come here and it gets crowded during peak season. But, even when packed, \u00d6l\u00fcdeniz\u00a0is well worth a visit and, if you dare to try paragliding, there is no better place for that!\u00a0\u00d6l\u00fcdeniz is the Turkish Mecca for this sport.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Antalya is\u00a0the\u00a0largest Turkish city\u00a0on the western Mediterranean coast\u00a0and the gateway to the Turkish Riviera. While it may be too touristy\u00a0for backpackers and independent travelers, it is worth spending a couple of\u00a0days and visiting its\u00a0Kalei\u00e7i (the wonderfully preserved old city district). It also has some of the best beaches in Turkey. The beach in the pictures\u00a0is Konyaalti beach, in the heart of the city but\u00a0framed by mountains that on clear days seem almost near enough to touch.<\/p>\n

I am aware Kilyos probably does not deserve to be on the list of the best beaches in Turkey. Kilyos may seem mediocre if compared to the previous ones. But if you visit Istanbul<\/a><\/strong> and just want to cool down from the heat with a dip in the Black Sea, Kilyos is the best beach close to Istanbul.<\/p>\n

Getting there: <\/strong>Located around 35km from Taksim, Kilyos is perfect for a day trip from Istanbul.<\/a>\u00a0 The easiest way to get to Kilyos from Taksim is to take any bus going to\u00a0Sariyer.\u00a0Once in Sariyer, you can\u00a0ask anyone where can you find the dolmu\u015f\u00a0for Kilyos. Kilyos\u00a0is about a 30-minute dolmu\u015f\u00a0ride from Sariyer.<\/p>\n
