I love trying new things and discovering the local tastes in the places I visit. Of course, it\u2019s more like brunch because Turkish breakfasts are huge!<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">I hope you\u2019re not on a diet when you visit Turkey because there are so many foods you need to try! I recommend you start the day with a good <i>kahvalti<\/i> (the traditional Turkish breakfast). In this post, I will share with you the foods you need to try and the best places to have the best Turkish breakfast in Istanbul!<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Foods You Should Try in a Traditional Turkish Breakfast<\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">In Turkey, having a traditional Turkish breakfast is a weekend ritual. A dream come true for those with a sweet tooth!<\/li>\n<li><b><i>G\u00f6zleme<\/i><\/b> \u2013 Turkish crepes stuffed with cheese, potatoes, mushrooms, etc.<\/li>\n<li><b><i>B\u00f6rek<\/i><\/b> \u2013 A kind of Turkish pie typically stuffed with feta cheese, potatoes, or spinach.<\/li>\n<li><b><i>Tahin Pekmez<\/i><\/b> \u2013 This is my absolute favorite breakfast food! It feels like a healthy version of Nutella (even though it doesn\u2019t contain chocolate or hazelnuts). It\u2019s a paste made by mixing tahini with grape molasses. I know it sounds strange, but I promise it\u2019s delicious and healthy!<\/li>\n<li><b><i>Pi\u015fi<\/i><\/b> \u2013 These are fried dough buns filled with chocolate, cheese, mushrooms, etc.<\/li>\n<li><b><i>Simit<\/i><\/b> \u2013 A sesame bagel that\u2019s very common in Turkey. These are sold everywhere as street food!<\/li>\n<li><strong><em>\u00c7ay<\/em>\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0&#8211; Turkish black tea.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Where to Find the Best Turkish Breakfast in Istanbul<\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Now that you know what you should eat, I can tell you the places where you\u2019ll have the best breakfast in Istanbul! Most places offer a traditional Turkish breakfast (<i>serpme kahvalt\u0131<\/i> in Turkish), but I\u2019m also including some places that offer international brunch options such as crepes or eggs Benedict. These are some of my favorite places to have breakfast or brunch in Istanbul, and after three years of living in Turkey, you can trust that I know what I\u2019m talking about.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">To make this guide easier to follow, I\u2019ve organized these restaurants by district. You can find a great Turkish breakfast no matter where in Istanbul you go!<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Be\u015fikta\u015f<\/h3>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Apart from its soccer team, the Be\u015fikta\u015f neighborhood is known for its amazing Turkish breakfasts and brunch spots. I can\u2019t mention only a few places because Be\u015fikta\u015f has a whole street full of restaurants that only serve Turkish breakfasts: <i>\u00c7elebio\u011flu Sokak<\/i> (aka &#8220;breakfast street&#8221;).<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">If the weather is nice, most restaurants will put their tables outside. Keep in mind that they get really crowded on the weekends!<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Ni\u015fanta\u015f\u0131\u00a0<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">In the exclusive neighborhood of Ni\u015fanta\u015f\u0131, you can find one of the best Turkish breakfasts in Istanbul at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tripadvisor.com\/restaurant_review-g293974-d10470367-reviews-cesme_bazlama_kahvalti-istanbul.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" class=\"broken_link\"><span class=\"s2\">\u00c7e\u015fme Bazlama Kahvalt\u0131<\/span><\/a>. This place is well known among Turkish high society and gets very crowded on the weekends. They offer one of the most extensive breakfasts in Istanbul, with up to 25 different jams!\u00a0<\/span><strong>Address:<\/strong> Osman F. Seden Sk. There are many coffee fortune tellers in Istanbul, but I personally recommend Aykut from Symbol Fal Caf\u00e9, where for around 40 TRY, you can have a coffee with a prediction of your future included!<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3>Cihangir<\/h3>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">In addition to its antique shops, hamams, and the Museum of Innocence (which is one of my favorite museums in Istanbul, by the way), this historical district of Istanbul boasts some of the best Turkish breakfasts. Two of the most popular places to have a Turkish breakfast here are:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Van Kahvaltisi \u2013 In Van Kahvaltisi, they serve a traditional Turkish breakfast that also includes some specialties from Eastern Turkey. The perfect place to try a variety of Turkish flavors!\u00a0<\/span><strong>Address:<\/strong> Defterdar Yk\u015f. No:15, K\u0131l\u0131\u00e7ali Pa\u015fa Mahallesi, 34425 Beyo\u011flu<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Kad\u0131k\u00f6y<\/h3>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The Asian side of Istanbul is also perfect for a good Turkish breakfast! There are two areas I love: one is Yelde\u011firmeni, which is traditional and charming, and the other is Moda, which is a little more sophisticated. In Yelde\u011firmeni, I recommend:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tripadvisor.es\/Restaurant_Review-g293974-d8493148-Reviews-Bop_Breakfast_of_Pan-Istanbul.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" class=\"broken_link\">BOP! Breakfast of pan \u2013<\/a>\u00a0This restaurant doesn\u2019t exactly serve a traditional Turkish breakfast, but they don\u2019t stray too far from it either. They make their own bagels and have a slightly different style compared to other restaurants nearby. A perfect place to have brunch in Istanbul!\u00a0<strong>Address:<\/strong> Rasimpasa Mahallesi, Duatepe Sok. No: 4 \/ D Kadikoy<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tripadvisor.es\/Restaurant_Review-g293974-d10545532-Reviews-Kuff-Istanbul.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" class=\"broken_link\">Kuff Cafe \u2013<\/a>\u00a0This is one of the most popular and crowded places for brunch in Istanbul. It has a very extensive menu, and a very nice vegan <i>kahvaltisi<\/i> (vegan breakfast).\u00a0<strong>Address:<\/strong> Rasimpasa Mah. Karakolhane Cad. No: 54 \/ B Kad\u0131koy, Yeldegirmeni.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Moda<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tripadvisor.com\/Restaurant_Review-g293974-d15244409-Reviews-Brekkie_Croissant_Cookie-Istanbul.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" class=\"broken_link\">Brekkie Croissant and Cookie<\/a> &#8211;\u00a0Of all the places on this list, this is my new favorite!\u00a0 They don&#8217;t really serve the traditional Turkish breakfast, but they have the best croissants (both sweet and salty) I have ever tried and\u00a0homemade jams and sauces they served on the side. The place is also very cozy and full of cats. The only thing to keep in mind is that on the weekends you should be ready for queues, because it\u2019s getting very popular. However, I still highly recommend this place for the best brunch in Istanbul. <strong><strong>Address:\u00a0<\/strong><\/strong>Yogurtcu Parki Cd. No:10, 34470 Sar\u0131yer\/\u0130stanbul, Turkey<\/li>\n<li>Lokma:\u00a0On the same street as Kale but a little more sophisticated, Lokma is another of the most popular breakfast restaurants in Istanbul with beautiful Bosphorus views. <strong>Address:<\/strong> Rumeli Hisar\u0131, Yahya Kemal Cd. No: 18, 34470 Sar\u0131yer \/ \u0130stanbul, Turkey<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">I hope when you visit Istanbul, you\u2019ll skip the hotel buffet and have breakfast at some of these places.
