It may seem like an easy thing to do, but when you are going traveling for a few months to different countries without even having a fixed itinerary, you need to think seriously about what truly is important and what can stay at home. I traveled for almost 4 months in the <strong><a href=\"\/?cat_ID=69\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Philippines<\/a><\/strong>, <strong><a href=\"\/?cat_ID=79\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Indonesia<\/a><\/strong>, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thewanderfulme.com\/1-month-vietnam-itinerary\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Vietnam<\/a><\/strong>, Singapore, Thailand and Cambodia with a <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/2NwBwvv\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">60-liter backpack<\/a> (and\u00a0around 12kg weight) and a smaller one where I kept my valuables. More than enough, considering that:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>\u00a0&#8220;The most important things in life aren&#8217;t things&#8221; (Anthony J. It&#8217;s also a good idea to have a couple of copies of your passport stored in a different place, that way in the unfortunate event your passport is lost, it will be\u00a0easier to replace it.<\/p>\n<p>Another important thing is to know the entry requirements for each\u00a0country\u00a0you plan to\u00a0visit. Do you need a visa? Use a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ivisa.com\/?utm_source=anianywhere\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">travel visa checker<\/a> well in advance to avoid unpleasant surprises.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"block-yui_3_17_2_5_1435231019795_29313\" data-block-type=\"44\">\n<div>\n<p>You should also learn about the vaccinations you might need and have your international vaccination card in order. It is important to buy a good <a href=\"http:\/\/www.worldnomads.com\/Turnstile\/AffiliateLink?partnerCode=aotrsg&amp;source=&amp;path=&amp;utm_source=aotrsg&amp;utm_content=link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">travel insurance<\/a>. Try to bring light clothing but\u00a0note that:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Weather in North Vietnam is chilly (especially in Sapa and <a href=\"\/?p=625\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Halong Bay<\/a>). If you are planning a trip to Vietnam, I recommend packing\u00a0a jacket. Check this <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wanderlustmovement.org\/blog\/vietnam-packing-list\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Vietnam packing list<\/a> for more information and tips.<\/li>\n<li>If you go to Indonesia, remember it\u00a0is the <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Islam_in_Indonesia\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">world&#8217;s largest Muslim populated\u00a0country<\/a>. While I found it to be quite moderate, you\u00a0should dress discreetly and cover your legs and shoulders while\u00a0traveling to certain areas. Bali is Hindu, no problem there, but\u00a0<strong>you should always cover your\u00a0shoulders and legs if\u00a0visiting a temple.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>The Philippines are\u00a0hot BUT bus drivers love to put the air conditioner on high. Always wear\u00a0a long-sleeved shirt\u00a0for long distances.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #f707b3;\"><strong>What to pack:<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>2 or 3 <strong>Bikinis\/Swimsuits<\/strong>: You are going to spend a lot of time underwater \ud83d\ude42<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/B06X961LT8\/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=9325&amp;creativeASIN=B06X961LT8&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;tag=anianyw-20&amp;linkId=967f22f69559ccf556dadf1228497a7b\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><\/a><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>6 or 7 Underwear.<\/li>\n<li>2 Shorts: I don&#8217;t usually wear shorts, but in Southeast Asia, my body could not stand anything else.<\/li>\n<li>1 Leggings: You can wear them when you go hiking or during transportation (as they are comfy!)<\/li>\n<li>1 Long skirt and\/or 1 loose pants: practical if you visit Indonesia or to cover your legs when you go\u00a0visiting temples.<\/li>\n<li>2 or 3 Tank tops.<\/li>\n<li>1 Shawl to cover your shoulders when needed.<\/li>\n<li>2 Light dresses.<\/li>\n<li>1 Light jacket (to survive aircon in Filipino buses).<\/li>\n<li>1 Hoodie or light coat if you plan to visit North of Vietnam.<\/li>\n<li>Hat and sunglasses.<\/li>\n<li id=\"block-yui_3_17_2_5_1435231019795_29313\" data-block-type=\"44\">Sandals: Ideally that you can use to go hiking and you can wear in and around water. I brought these <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/B00L4GH87M\/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=9325&amp;creativeASIN=B00L4GH87M&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;tag=anianyw-20&amp;linkId=CBILSURTWHB4C36V\">Columbia sandals<\/a>. A summer is not a summer until I can wear my flip flops!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #f707b3;\"><strong>02 |\u00a0<\/strong><strong>Health and Toiletries<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul id=\"yui_3_17_2_1_1439669070260_1612\">\n<li>A <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/2uDC0ZF\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">first aid kit (including\u00a0painkillers and\u00a0anti-diarrhoeal drugs)<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Sunscreen<\/li>\n<li>Deodorant<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/2O4wZkU\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Mosquito spray<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Toothbrush and toothpaste<\/li>\n<li>Nail clippers, scissors, tweezers.<\/li>\n<li>Tampons, pads, or even better, a super <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/2nEpHbS\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">practical menstrual cup<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/B01FV0N9BK\/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=9325&amp;creativeASIN=B01FV0N9BK&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;tag=anianyw-20&amp;linkId=7539797bf7c172e3dd2dc9a827d87acf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><\/a><\/p>\n<ul id=\"yui_3_17_2_1_1439669070260_1612\">\n<li><strong>Absolutely NO make-up.\u00a0<\/strong>Really, you don&#8217;t need it, it will be super hot and humid and you will melt if you try to put that on your face.<\/li>\n<li>Hand sanitizer<\/li>\n<li id=\"yui_3_17_2_1_1439669070260_1611\">Toiler paper (always bring a bit on your backpack, just in case&#8230;)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #f707b3;\"><strong>03 | <\/strong><strong>Electronics<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Camera<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cWhat I like about photographs is that they capture a moment that\u2019s gone forever, impossible to reproduce.\u201d<br \/>\n-Karl Lagerfeld-<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><strong>After the passport, the camera is the thing to get packed.<\/strong> I usually carry more than one (sometimes even three). To save weight, you can carry a compact camera but, if you want to take great photos, a DSLR makes the difference. I recently got a <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/2vKLoLB\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Nikon D3400<\/a>, my first DSLR and so far I am very satisfied, it is easy to use and perfect for beginners in DSLR photography.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/2vKLoLB\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-1956 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/vuelveaviajar.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Nikon-300x255.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"255\" srcset=\"https:\/\/vuelveaviajar.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Nikon-300x255.png 300w, https:\/\/vuelveaviajar.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Nikon-177x150.png 177w, https:\/\/vuelveaviajar.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Nikon-150x127.png 150w, https:\/\/vuelveaviajar.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Nikon.png 353w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><iframe class=\"aligncenter\" style=\"border: none;\" src=\"\/\/rcm-na.amazon-adsystem.com\/e\/cm?o=1&amp;p=48&amp;l=ur1&amp;category=camera&amp;banner=04ZAJTF2EM5QD4DAGSG2&amp;f=ifr&amp;linkID=bb5ba444b5eeedadaf2baf24e7a2b1ca&amp;t=anianyw-20&amp;tracking_id=anianyw-20\" width=\"728\" height=\"90\" frameborder=\"0\" marginwidth=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><span data-mce-type=\"bookmark\" style=\"display: inline-block; width: 0px; overflow: hidden; line-height: 0;\" class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>For underwater photos, I recommend an action camera like the <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/2B8YCXD\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">GoPro Hero5.<\/a>\u00a0As I said earlier, <strong>you will spend a lot of time underwater and you will want to take pictures<\/strong>, so take an action camera with you!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow href= noopener\"><\/a><\/p>\n<div id=\"block-yui_3_17_2_4_1435271130963_44043\" data-block-type=\"44\">\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li>I personally prefer\u00a0bringing\u00a0an <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/2vJjVKe\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">unlocked smartphone<\/a> instead of a laptop. It is lighter but still works fine to\u00a0stay\u00a0connected during your trip, find accommodation, ideas on things to do,\u00a0your location on the map and to not to be\u00a0&#8220;lost in translation&#8221;. Wifi\u00a0works quite well in almost all countries in Southeast Asia (except for the Philippines&#8230; Once they\u00a0fix this, I may move\u00a0there!).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #f707b3;\"><strong>04 |\u00a0<\/strong><strong>Other<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Padlock: I recommend getting a <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/2B7VPhC\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">4-digit combination padlock<\/a>. This is useful if you stay in dorms and want to keep your valuables safe.
